Spring Open Final Round Pairings


Below are the pairings for the final round in the 2012 Peter Sibbald Spring Open.  This is also the final round of the current chess season.

As a reminder to all, 30 Apr 12 will be the closing party.  This event will consist of open chess games, food and handing out the trophy's to all the tournament winners.  There will also be a trophy for the most improved player and a new trophy this year the Grand Aggregate.

Spring Open Round 4 Results

Here are the results for Round 4. Looks like Wayne Coppin is unstoppable with a full 4 points. He has secured a first place finish. A loss in the final round would only mean that he'd share the first place title with the next tier of players (currently with 3 points). He only needs a draw to finish clear first.

2012 EASTERN ONTARIO YOUTH CHESS TOURNAMENT RESULTS


The 2012 EASTERN ONTARIO YOUTH CHESS TOURNAMENT, was held on Sunday April 15th at H.M.C.S. Cataraqui, the Naval Reserve training building in Kingston.

The tournament attracted 145 students. Most were from the Kingston - Trenton - Smith Falls - Gananaque area, but there were also some participants from the Ottawa area.
The medal winners were:

This is the second annotated game in our new Annotated Games series. This game is from our Round 3 game of the 2012 Peter Sibbald Spring Open on Board 1, between club rivals Wayne Coppin and Peter Sibbald. This game was annotated by Brian Murray. Please comment using the comments section below.

Annotated Game: Peter Sibbald vs. Dave Gordon (Mar 26, 2012)

This is part of our new initiative, where every week (that we have a tournament) somebody from the club will annotate the game from Board 1.
