Chess Monday July 3rd 2023

 There will be chess tonight from 7:30 - 10:00 PM

Eastern Ontario All Schools Chess Tournament

 We are booked to play  Saturday April 15 2023 doors open 10:15 a.m. for  Eastern Ontario Scholastic Chess Challenge Chess Tournament at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School 1085 Woodbine Road Kingston.

Pre register to  rpolywkan@icloud.com  provide child’s name School attending and their grade (SK Gr 1 thru Gr 12) please e-transfer $25. entry fee to:  rpolywkan@icloud.com

Limited space available registration recommended to chess players in the top half of their chess club grade they are in. 

Registration at door is $30. April 15 Holy Cross Secondary School doors open to students at 10:15 a.m. games start 11:15

Top Gold and silver medal winners advance to Ontario Chess Challenge Championships to be held in North York On.

Lunch approx. 12:30 pizza drink etc available $$ best deal provided. Bring your broken missing or unwanted chess pieces for donation or trade. Some chess items for sale too!

Family Day Feb20

 Kingston Chess Club will be closed Family Day February 20 but looking forward to being back next week kids chess club starting 6:00. Kingston Chess Club is open to all ages and chess ability from intermediate player to expert. Over the board games begin at 7:30 and run to 10:00 p.m. approximately. 

 Kingston Chess Club “Juniors” Club starts this Monday January 16, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

Learn and play with your friends age up to 18 years old. Beginner to expert chess player welcome to join. One hour and 15 minute lesson and game session hosted by intermediate and expert chess club members.

Class begins 6:00 p.m. at Cafe Church Hall 333 Princess Street, entrance at rear of Queen Street, behind Laundry Mart Building. There is a sign “ Cafe Church “ over door entrance.

Chess Club Closed for the Holidays

Chess club will be closed on the following Mondays:

-December 26, 2022

-January 2, 2023

Eastern Ontario Scholastic Chess Challenge

 Eastern Ontario Scholastic Chess Challenge has been canvassing Eastern Ontario School Boards and Schools from September thru December 2022 to support Chess programs in their schools.

We have been supporting Chesskid.com program offer providing chesskid.com memberships  to all schools libraries at no cost.  School chess clubs generally start up in January well after the busy school start of September and finish of Christmas season.

Quit a lot of schools do not have a teacher or helper to operate a chess club or start one. That’s were I’m hoping to get your help.  If you have some kids or grandkids playing chess and no school chess club, maybe offer your assistance to start a chess club there.

A great resource for chess is chess.com it’s free for basic use. Does everything - lessons, videos, games, blogs etc. also go to chesskid.com for free same stuff, kid version.
