Happy Labor Day - See you next week!

It's Labor Day. And that means that the start of the new 2013/2014 season for the Kingston Chess Club starts next week on September 9. We hope to see you there.

Our first meeting will just be a social event to get people acquainted. Our first tournament starts Sept 16 with the 5-round Jim Cairns Memorial Swiss. Results of this tournament will be used to group players into 4-player sections in the President's Challenge later this year. This will be the first time will be running it as a 6-round Double Round Robin, so it should be very interesting.

See you there!

5 Weeks till the start of the season...

Are you ready?

I know I can't wait. Remember that the Kingston Chess Club starts the Monday after Labor Day. We'll be updating our Google Calendar with this seasons events in the coming weeks. We've got new tournament formats for 2013/2014, which should make things more interesting, and more challenging. If you're interested in a few fun games over the summer, leave us a message. Some of us will try to play at the Kingston City Park on Sundays.

See you in 5 weeks!

Thanks for coming out

The weather has been really hot, but it's started to cool down a little bit lately. Today, a few of us were at the Kingston City Park for a few rounds of chess. We were there from 6 pm to about 7:30 pm.

Thanks to Jay and the Chans for coming out. We had about 3 boards out. We'll hopefully come out earlier next week, around 5:30 hopefully (unless it rains). We'd love for more to join us. Contact me if you want confirmation.
